The Zebra DS4608 is a multi-faceted barcode reader and is ideal for a variety of workstations, such as in retail and hospitality, as well as electronics and light industrial (DPM). The scanner is also robustly designed for demanding tasks: it is IP52 certified and resistant to shocks up to a height of 1.8 meters. The recessed scanning window helps reduce dirt and scratches. The DS4608 reliably and quickly captures 1D and 2D barcodes, as well as DPM barcodes (DS4608-DPE) on almost any background and in almost any condition: printed or from a screen, with high density or low contrast. The DS4608-HD also reads very dense and very small barcodes, for example on jewelry labels, without any problems. The DS4608-DPE captures particularly wide barcodes, up to 4". The DS4608-SR, meanwhile, also scans full-page documents and barcodes at a distance of up to 46cm. This allows users to scan items in a shopping cart without having to leave the checkout area, for example. The barcode reader is equipped with an 800 MHz microprocessor and a high-resolution megapixel sensor. With Zebra's PRZM intelligent imaging technology, even poorly readable or hard-to-reach barcodes are reliably captured. Multi-code data formatting ensures that, as needed, multiple barcodes are captured in a single scan and transferred in the desired order. A practical and clear triple successful scan confirmation follows each successful scan: a decoding LED, a programmable beep and a direct decoding indicator with illumination on the barcode. A particularly handy feature is host recognition, which automatically selects the correct interface (USB, RS-232 or RS-485) when connecting. Another advantage of the DS4608 is the quick change between handheld and presentation modes. For presentation mode, simply place the barcode reader in the presentation stand. Handheld mode is automatically activated as soon as the scanner is retrieved.
